Times and Seasons

Here we are back in Bellingham.  Our new blinds make the sun bearable in the evening but it still gets hot in the condo.  It got up to 85 degrees in here but as soon as the sun went down, so did the temperature.  It's hard not having screens on the sliding door to the balcony or on our bedroom window.  I hate flying insects!

Since we hadn't heard any more from the attorney, I sent the $3000.00 off to him and then found his email to tell him the money was on its way and to see when the new court date was scheduled.  He said he sent us a letter but gave me a synopsis of what will happen if Dad pleads guilty.  We received the letter yesterday in the mail.  Here is the contents of the letter:

RE:  Carrying Concealed Weapon

"I have been in contact with the prosecutor concerning the above charge.  He is offering the following:

1.  Misdemeanor
2.  Deferred Sentencing
3.  Probation 6 months
4. 20 Hours of Community Service
5.  Pay Court Cost and Assessments
6.  Take a Gun/Firearm Safety Class
7.  Payment of TSA fine
8.  No further law violations

For the deferred sentence, you must plead guilty to the above charge.  In doing so, if you complete all the other requirements, the charge is deferred and you will not have a criminal record.  This said, if someone authorized to view your police record sees it, it will show the charge was deferred; but not stricken.

Because it is only a misdemeanor, you will not lose your voting rights or the right to carry a fire arm.

I believe this is a generous offer and it would be in your best interest to agree to the offer.  In accepting the plea offer on August 8, 2012, you will not be required to return to court; unless you do not meet the terms of the plea. "

We will know more what exactly he has to do as far as Community Service when we meet on the 8th and also find out what the fine will be.  At least the date wasn't put off any later so we can get this behind us.
